Going to the library is like going to Disneyland for me.

As I was scanning the shelf my eyes fell on The New Bohemians. I pulled it out immediately. I couldn’t wait to open it…especially since I have recently felt like a long lost hippie that has finally found her way home. You see, I think I’ve had a Bohemian spirit inside me all my life and it was time to break free. The New Bohemians confirmed it.

This book is amazing! love it, love it, love it!

Justina introduced a fresh new perspective on an alternative eclectic lifestyle that has been around for a couple of centuries. “The new Bohemian home is a multi-functional playground for exploration and experimentation: It’s an office, an art gallery, a showroom, a daycare, a photo and music studio, even a pop-up restaurant, or all of these.”

the-earthy-bohemianThe Bohemian Home is separated into six themes:

  • The Modern Bohemian: clean lines and functional
  • The Earthy Bohemian: plants take center stage
  • The Folksy Bohemian: family and traditions are told through art and artifacts
  • the-folksy-bohemianThe Nomadic Bohemian: colorful textiles reign supreme (this would be me)
  • The Romantic Bohemian: lots of nature and sweet nostalgia
  • The Maximal Bohemian: a whole lot of everything (this is Justina)

the-nomadic-bohemianEach theme is highlighted in it’s own chapter that features homes, interiors, and their owners. The twenty homes from across the country are beautifully photographed and each home captures that Bohemian spirit that is unique to every one of them.

the-romantic-bohemianJustina’s goal when writing this book was to inspire and motivate each one of us to create a home that reflects our own Bohemian personality. She definitely does that. Justina believes “that creativity, not wealth, is the key to having an amazing home.” She’s so right.

the-maximal-bohemianA bonus in each chapter is the “Adopt An Idea” section. These sections are collections of DIY projects that you can do at home. This is a great idea for us creatives that need to make something the minute it pops into our heads.

Oh, and one more bonus chapter…a cute Plant-O-Pedia section gives you all the guidance you need in growing and caring for your plants…a Bohemian decor must-have.

Thanks, Justina.

Until next time…enjoy your day…ttyl!
